IOS 12 is intended to optimize the user experience of the operating system.
Yesterday was the opening conference of the Apple event dedicated to developers, the WWDC. The conference was highlighted by iOS 12, with the company having shown in detail all the news of the new version of the operating system for iPhone and iPad.
But iOS 12 was not the only theme of the WWDC’s opening conference. New versions of macOS and watchOS as well as news on tvOS have also been shown and, like the next iOS, are already in the beta stage for developers with a release scheduled for the end of the year.
Unfortunately, the rumors circulating for weeks ago ended up not checking and no new hardware was presented. This means that the long awaited iPhone SE 2, a new edition of the AirPods or even the Beats branding column were not announced.
Without further delays, you may find out what the big highlights of this Apple WWDC conference were, and below you can see a short video that sums up the conference in just over 14 minutes.
As you might guess, the next version of Apple’s mobile operating system does not introduce any major new features and is ‘limited’ to optimizing the experience. A new way to group notifications, area to create timers to limit your time in applications; ‘Do Not Disturb’ mode for a more restful night; a new application called Shortcut to create automatic actions at the press of a button; FaceTime group calls with up to 32 people; and augmented reality emoji created from the user aspect (Memoji) were just some of the new features.
The Mojave version of Apple’s desktop operating system is focused on upholding users’ privacy and offering a new version of the App Store on the Mac. New organizational tools (such as Stacks) are also included that will make life easier for users.
Not surprisingly, watchOS 5 represents Apple’s new bet on health and physical activity, something that has been recurring in recent years. Users will be able to challenge friends for fitness competitions and podcast support will be launched to follow the training to the best of their ability. It is also worth mentioning the Walkie-Talkie functionality that will come as an application, allowing users to play voice messages with each other.
The Apple TV 4K will gain support for the Dolby Atmos sound system. The update is slated for fall this year and will feature a library dedicated to films, series and video clips that support this format.
